Livescribe announces Pulse Smartpen that revolutionizes Note-taking

Pulse Smartpen Livescribe has introduced a smartpen that does the work of capturing handwriting and recording audio. Called Pulse, this world’s first smartpen has the ability to synchronize the recorded audio to the writing.

All you need to do is tap on the notes to replay the recorded content from scratch, making it easy to remember the word that is heard, written or spoken.

The incorporated rich I/O capabilities and a Java development environment allow the consumer to access an array of applications such as storing recorded audio, digital notes and even add-on applications.

A sleek and ergonomic designed Pulse is housed in aluminum and weighs 1.3 ounces. If you were thinking that the pen that does the work of a general computer would be heavy, then you are mistaken. It is pretty portable and can be carried wherever you want.

Users are also provided with an opportunity to fast forward, rewind, pause as well as speed up or slow down their audio recordings. It offers an almost invisible microdot that is printed on notebook pages, informing where exactly a user is writing or tapping. Supporting qualified laser jet printers, they can also print dot paper for free.

  • A high speed infrared camera with a Dot Positioning System (DPS)

  • High contrast display for easy viewing
  • Dual microphones for clear recording and noise cancellation

  • An audio jack for Livescribe’s 3D Recording Headset

You can even connect the Pulse smartpen to the PC via magnetic USB mobile cradle for charging, transferring digital links and audio along with installation of new applications.

Livescribe Desktop software is also included to store, replay and search words within the handwritten notes on their PC. Users get 250MB of online storage after registering to the online community. They will enjoy the freedom to upload and share notes, audio, Flash movies or PDF files. In addition, text and audio transcription services will also be available online.
