Asus Eee PC 4GB Model Launched in India

Today Asus unveiled one of its most successful product named Eee PC’s 4GB model in the Indian market in a press event held at Mumbai. The Eee PC from Asus offers basic computing facilities and hence is targeted at the educational sector.

Asus claims that the Eee PC facilitates Easy learning, working and playing. Also it will provide excellent internet connection and outstanding mobile computing. Thanks to its 7-inch display and weight of 0.92kg, which makes the notebook extremely portable.

The Eee PC is powered by Linux operating system however it is compatible with Windows XP too. Asus is also said to be working with Microsoft for bringing Windows version of the Eee PC.

The Eee PC features built-in WiFi 502.11b/g and also comes with preloaded applications such as Skype for being in touch with contacts. Moreover speakers, microphone and webcam will also help to enhance instant messaging capabilities.

What will attract children are the games available on Eee PC. Moreover users can view pictures, movies, listen to music and internet radio.

    Besides, Eee PC, the main attention at the event was grabbed by child-artist Darsheel Safary from renowned Bollywood movie Taare Zameen Par. Also Jahn McClure, Marketing Operations Intel Technology was present at the event.

The worldwide acceptance of this product is symbolic of its simplicity, robust build quality and user-friendliness. Although it is primarily aimed at school children and teenagers, even other user groups have shown a lot of interest in this product.”

    Looking at its features, we can say that the Eee PC is not only useful for children but housewives, senior citizens, teenagers, professionals like journalists and photographers.

    The only disadvantage could be a small storage capacity and absence of CD drive. However, one can attach external memory drive and a CD drive with the help of 3 USB ports available.

    For interested buyers, Asus Eee PC will be available at Croma outlets at Juhu and Malad in Mumbai from February 2, 2008, 5 pm onwards. The price of the Eee PC will be Rs. 18,000.
