The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix release date is confirmed for next month and the Chinese manufacturer has also let its price details out. The device introduced along with the Yoga 11S, adopts a ‘rip and flip’ design and works in four different modes.
The ThinkPad Helix can be used as a notebook and prospective customers can choose to detach its keyboard for tablet functionality. Snapping the screen back on the keyboard also transforms it into a slate. The 11.6-inch device weighs in at 835 grams and flips back by 180 degrees to stand upright so users can watch movies or make business presentations. This Ultrabook claims to pack in some advanced features in its sleek profile.
It is capable of coughing up the juice for computing time of close to 10 hours at a stretch. Besides a full-size keyboard, the device tags along a five button clickpad as well as a pen. An IPS touchscreen capable of rendering crisp and high definition visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution is also in place. It can be configured with optional LTE and has been deployed with NFC for wireless data transfer.
In order to make the convertible notebook capable of offering smooth multitasking experience, better navigation and fast web access, the OEM has integrated the third generation Intel Core i7 processor along with Intel vPro in it. Moreover, it is optimized for the latest Windows platform and can run the 8 Pro OS as well. The Lenovo device can extend support to up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM and an SSD of not more than 256GB capacity. The manufacturer’s full suite of services that include In-Home warranty upgrades and Accidental Damage Protection is also available with it.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix is slated to make its debut at retail channels, company-owned stores and the official website in February 2013. It costs upwards from $1,499 (approx. Rs. 81,860).
