New Samsung Series 7 Chronos

The new Samsung Series 7 Chronos has been announced and the device is all set to make its first appearance at the CES. Apart from refreshing this range with a sleeker notebook, the conglomerate has launched its first Series 7 Ultrabook and even introduced a Windows 8-optimized monitor, all of which will be exhibited at the upcoming show.

The new Series 7 Chronos is a ‘professional and powerful performer’ that is slimmer than its predecessor with a form factor that measures 376 x 249.9 x 20.9 millimeters. The bare metal device is constructed using aluminum and it tips the scales at 2.35 kilograms. As an enhancement, the OEM has deployed the latest system with a software dubbed RAMaccelerator which claims to makes the most of existing memory to boost its performance by up to 150 percent and provide relatively fast web browsing experience.

A 15.6-inch 10-point multi-touch screen of 300nit brightness is fitted onto the device and it is said to be capable of projecting visuals in 1920 x 1080p resolution. In addition to this, the Samsung notebook comes with a backlit keyboard as well as a touchpad, probably with gesture recognition function for the built-in Windows 8 OS. It is fueled by a 2.4GHz latest generation quad core Intel Core i7 3635QM processor for carrying out multiple operations at the same time and the system’s ability to deliver enhanced graphics can be attributed to the AMD Radeon HD 8870M graphics with 2GB GDDR5.

Furthermore, the laptop ships with up to 16GB of RAM and can hold a hard drive of up to 1TB capacity. Users can engage in video conferencing via an HD 720p webcam and make the most of the JBL stereo speakers that have been incorporated within it. The device is embedded with 4 USB ports, an HDMI connector, a VGA output and an RJ-45 port too. It can cough up the juice for computing time of close to 11.5 hours at a stretch.

Price and availability details of the new Samsung Series 7 Chronos have not been given a mention. It will be showcased at the CES starting on January 8.
