Samsung Series 9 notebook, Samsung Series 5 Ultra exhibited at CES

The next generation Samsung Series 9 notebooks consisting of the NP900X3B-A01US and NP900X4B-A02US variants as well as the Samsung Series 5 Ultra family inclusive of the NP530U4B-A01US, NP530U3B-A01US and NP530U3B-A02US versions have been unveiled at the CES. All these laptops will hit store shelves over the course of the next two months.

The Samsung Series 9 notebooks are deployed with the 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 processors, Intel HD Graphics 3000 and utilize either 4GB or 8GB DDR3 RAM. The Windows 7 Home Premium based devices house 128GB mSATA SSDs. The Wi-Fi enabled notebooks from this series are available in screen configurations of 13.3 inches and 15 inches that can project images in 1600 x 900p resolutions. The other specifications read 3-watt stereo speakers, 1.3MP webcam, card reader and 6-cell Li-Polymer battery amongst others.

We’re confident that consumers will truly be impressed with the product’s design and performance, as well as the fact that we are one of the first companies to release an Ultrabook with an optical drive, which brings a new level of productivity and entertainment capabilities to the category,” quoted Todd Bouman, vice president of product marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

Samsung Series 5 Ultra

The notebooks from the Samsung Series 5 Ultra are equipped with the Intel Core i5 processors that clock in speed of about 1.6GHz and 4GB DDR memory. Operating with the help of Windows 7 Home Premium, they are integrated with Intel HD Graphics 3000. The devices are either armed with a 500GB HDD or a 128GB mSATA SSD and come in screen options of 14 inches and 13.3 inches, which render visuals in 1366 x 768p resolution.

The multimedia ready Series 5 Ultrabooks employ a 1.3MP webcam each in addition to 2 stereo speakers to reproduce improved audio. Powered by a 6120mAh 8-cell Li-Polymer battery, all three variants of this series let users compute for about 7 hours at a stretch. These Wi-Fi enabled portable computers are embedded with 4-in-1 card readers.

The NP900X3B-A01US and NP900X4B-A02US variants of the Samsung Series 9 are priced at $1,399 (approx. Rs. 72,335) and 1,499 (approx. Rs. 77,505), respectively. It will be made available in February this year. The Samsung Series 5 Ultra prices for the NP530U4B-A01US, NP530U3B-A01US and NP530U3B-A02US models are tagged at $949.99 (approx. Rs. 49,120), $899.99 (approx. Rs. 46,535) and $1099.99 (approx. Rs. 56,875), correspondingly. The Series 5 is expected to hit stores this month.
