With stormy rains resulting into huge tidal waves, the tech world too has been hit by a splash of gadgets this whole month of July. Truly, it is time to sing a different version of a popular classic, ‘it’s raining gadgets Hallelujah!’ Amidst the flow of innovative devices from every corner of the tech realm, we have penned down our pick of the Cool Gadgets of the Month.

‘Social networking’ seem to be the buzz words these days. So, catering to the social need of mobile buffs, HTC unveiled the ChaCha handset along with Tata Docomo in India at an event held in Mumbai. It decided to go with the seemingly most popular social site – Facebook. The Chacha has been embedded with a dedicated key for Facebook, allowing easy access to all those social butterflies. Besides, the month also saw Maxx Mobiles splashing in several affordable handsets in India.

Sony sings to the tune ‘More colors, more style,’ which is evidently seen in the re-launched S,C,E and Y series of laptops. The company has now dipped these devices into 16 distinct hues. The slim, sleek laptops dazzled onto store shelves in India this month. The light-emitting C series comes in six unique shades while the E series attempts to cater to the breed of young professionals raring to go. The Y series is the pocket friendly one out of this colored lot.

This month also saw the advent of numerous Apple updates. The MacBook Air with Thunderbolt interface and the upgraded Mac Mini made their presence felt. The new MacMini is endowed with features such as the Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger with Spotlight, DVD player, iCal, Xcode, iChat and more. Not to forget, users can also lay their hands on the Apple Thunderbolt display.

AIOs are known for their clutter-free and highly portable attributes. Augmenting the AIO category in India, Lenovo brought in new entrants – the Ideacantre B520 and B320. The B520 boasts of second generation i7 processor and up to 2TB HDD. Whereas the B320 shows off the Onekey TV2 feature that helps convert the display into a TV.

Razer was out with one of its gaming weapons this month, the Razer Electra. The multi-purpose headphones can be used with tablets, smartphones and of course PC. Promising crisp sound and comfortable fit, the earcups are optimally positioned along with premium cushions. A 1.3m rubber sheath cable tails out with the gold plated 3.5mm jack.

The month end brought in good news to Motorola Xoom owners in India with the announcement of over the air Android 3.1 update. The Xoom running on Android 3.0 will be upgraded to the 3.1 version. The update brings in enhanced multi-tasking, swifter browsing and several other attributes. The company has started rolling out the 40MB update.
