Meet the new Kobo Family – Mini, Touch, Glo and Arc

The new Kobo Family which comprises of the Mini, Glo, Arc and the updated Touch eReader, has taken flight bundled with a host of color options and accessories. These devices are expected to hit availability status through popular booksellers and retailers including Best Buy and Walmart.

The front-lit Kobo Glo which is up for pre-order worldwide, packs in a 6-inch ComfortLight XGA E-Ink display for reading content even in dimly lit condition, much like the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight. Users will have access to a wide catalog of eBooks through the Kobo eBookstore over Wi-Fi. The device will arrive in color options of black and white along with additional stylish shades of pink sunset, blue moon and silver star. The Touch eReader has been refreshed with the company’s latest software and it can be picked up in several languages.

Kobo Glo

The Mini is said to be the smallest eReader available. It offers an anti-glare 5-inch E-Ink screen fitted into a lightweight casing that’s easy to carry around and store through SnapBacks which come in teal, ruby red, and purple shades. The Arc is an ICS-based Android tablet which features a Kobo-designed UI dubbed Tapestries. Being multimedia-oriented, it houses a dual core processor, a 7-inch HD display and front-facing speakers with SRS TruMedia. This slate is capable of delivering up to 10 hours of reading or continuous video play, or 2 weeks of standby.

The Kobo Glo price amounts to $129.99, while the Mini will be up for grabs for $79.99. Both eReaders will be available starting October 1, 2012. The Android-based ARC tablet will retail for $199.99 for the 8GB version and $249.99 for the 16GB variant from November onwards. The refreshed Touch device is already up for grabs in stores at $99.99.
