The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite price and release date details suggest that all those who are looking forward to grab a brand new eReader will not have to wait for too long. It looks like the recently unveiled Kobo family will have to face some stiff competition from the brand new Kindle series.
If the company is to be believed, the Paperwhite is ‘the most advanced eReader ever constructed.’ The sleeker device not only has a high resolution 212 dpi 6-inch capacitive touchscreen, but also packs in a built-in front light and a battery that can cough up the juice to power the device for up to 8 weeks.
The Kindle Paperwhite’s front light is accompanied by the light guide technology that helps saving up on the battery life by utilizing only four LEDs for illuminating the screen. The Wi-Fi + 3G version of this slate comes with free 3G connection, so users need not pay monthly rentals in order to download books. All other variants have built-in Wi-Fi to browse the web and the Amazon store.

Featuring hand-tuned fonts, it boasts of Time to Read that informs users about the amount of time needed to finish a book or a chapter. Moreover, its X-Ray displays all pages which mention a keyword and it even searches Wikipedia or Shelfari for additional information. The Whispersync technology that remembers the page number where readers left off, has now been extended to audio books as well.
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite price is $119 (approx. Rs. 6,590), while the Wi-Fi + 3G version carries a price tag of $179 (approx. Rs. 9,915). Both devices are now up for pre-order through the official website and will be made available from October 1. The latest generation Kindle eReader is now shipping and can be picked up for $69 (approx. Rs. 3,820).
