The new latest generation Kindle and its Touch, 3G and Fire versions have been introduced by Amazon. While the latest generation model is apt for those on the go with its compact form, the other three Kindles bring in new features to the e-reading experience.

The ergonomic touchscreen which makes it more convenient for users to take notes, search, shop and turn pages is the highlight of the Kindle Touch. Aptly named, it promises to deliver a long battery life and access to thousands of books. It incorporates the new X-Ray feature which allows readers to view all passages across a book that cite ideas, fictional characters, historical figures, places and topics of their interest with just one tap. They can also get detailed descriptions from Wikipedia and Shelfari.

The new latest generation Kindle is the most lightweight and compact e-reader from Amazon. Weighing only 5.98 ounces, the device is said to be 18 percent smaller and turns pages 10 percent faster. Embedded with a 6-inch electronic ink display which appears similar to real paper even in bright sunlight, this Kindle can easily fit into users’ pockets.

Next one to feature in the line of new Amazon e-reader models is the Kindle Touch 3G. It features almost all functionalities of the Kindle Touch except that it additionally provides readers access to free 3G, as its name suggests. Thus users do not need to go looking for a Wi-Fi hotspot to access the innumerable books that the free 3G provides.

Equipped with a 7-inch full color LCD touchscreen possessing 16 million colors in high resolution and 169 pixels per inch, the new Kindle Fire stands a class apart from the previous three models. Featuring free cloud storage, it integrates Amazon’s Whispersync technology that automatically syncs users Kindle library, last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights. It offers an incredibly vast collection of more than 17, 000,000 songs from Amazon MP3, 100,000 movies and TV shows as well as over 1,000,000 Kindle books. Furthermore, it employs the Amazon Silk web browser which comes with numerous interesting features.

The new latest generation Kindle and its Touch and 3G models come with special offers and sponsored screensavers which appear when users are not reading. The Kindle Touch and 3G models are priced at $99 (approx. Rs. 4,891) and $149 (approx. Rs. 7,337) respectively and are currently available at Amazon for pre-order. They will start retailing from November 21 in the US. The new latest generation Kindle can be bought from Amazon for a price of $79 (approx. Rs. 3,913). With a price tag of $199 (approx. Rs. 9,783), the Kindle Fire will start shipping from November 15 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon as well.
