NeoGeo X Gaming Console

Considering the recent official announcement, it looks like rumors flying around about the Neo Geo X handheld gaming console were true, after all. The device is being released as a limited edition in countries like the U.S., Australia and Japan. It is also expected to be seen in regions covering Europe, Middle East as well as Far East.

Marking the 20th anniversary of the Neo Geo AES, the handheld in question is expected to be launched by the second quarter of 2012. It will feature up to 20 officially licensed games from the company, spanning classic titles like Fatal Fury, MetalSlug, King of Fighters, along with several others such as Last Resort, League Bowling, Magician Lord, Football Frenzy and more.

“The NeoGeo console has always been a personal favorite of mine and I am delighted to be involved with the development of this new handheld console. We hope to re-ignite the excitement many of us felt twenty one years ago, in a more affordable manner, to a much wider audience,” said Jason Cooper from Blaze, while remarking on the upcoming launch.

In the U.S., the distribution of this gadget will be handled by Tommo. Developed by SNK PlayMore Corporation, the new Neo Geo features a 3.5-inch LCD screen. It is also laden with attributes like internal stereo speakers, a headphone port and an A/V output. Additional storage is enabled by an embedded SD card slot.

Further details about the Neo Geo X release date and price are not known yet. Blaze is the official distributor of the unit for the whole of Europe, Middle East and Australia.
