For parents concerned about the hygiene-centric habits of their children, the Karuma PlayBase Plus might offer a helping hand. Successor to the original PlayBase, the new tab not only keeps tech savvy children engaged, but also shows off some anti-bacterial qualities.

The kid-centric device which claims to be the first one with such anti-bacterial attributes, was dug up by Pocket-lint. Embedded with Silver Seal technology, the gadget in question uses medical grade plastic for its cover.

Laminated with a toughened glass screen, the display is reported to be anti-glare, anti-scratch plus anti-fingerprint. The slate is further secured with a shock absorbent silicone case called PlayCover. Along with offering protection against dirt and water, it also converts into a stand for the tablet, making video viewing more comfortable.

Operating on the Gingerbread platform, the device sports a 7-inch touchscreen which displays visuals in a resolution of 800 x 480p. Furthermore, it has been embedded with a 1.2GHz single core processor as well as 1GB DDR3 RAM. The 8GB of internal storage capacity can be increased by inserting a microSD into the slot integrated within the chassis.

The gadget also boasts of attributes like built in Wi-Fi, accelerometer and stereo speakers. The incorporated battery offers a work life of up to four hours or sixty hours of standby time. What’s more, the use of applications can be monitored by parents by means of the SafePlay system.
