PlayStation Vita to hit shelves this February

PlayStation Vita Announced way back in January this year, the Sony PlayStation Vita is all set to start retailing from February 2012. The availability of the gaming device was announced yesterday at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco and the official PlayStation blog is waxing eloquent about it.

Possessing a bright 5-inch OLED multi-touch screen, the latest delight for gamers comes equipped with two analog sticks and dual cameras. It features a front as well as a rear touch panel and claims to deliver rich, immersive games with high quality graphics. The Vita will herald a vast collection of gaming titles spanning various genres including Sound Shapes, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, EA Sports’ FIFA and Call of Duty from Activision amongst many others.

Avid gamers can enjoy shooters and action titles on the move with this upcoming device. They can also gain access to native social applications namely, near and Party to get connected with friends and fellow PS Vita owners. Furthermore, the console is incorporated with social networking applications such as Facebook, foursquare, Skype and Twitter for delivering gaming updates to users’ friends. Operating on an ARM Cortex A9 core CPU, the gaming unit lends support to GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity options. It also happens to feature in-built speakers and a microphone.

The PlayStation Vita is scheduled to start retailing from February 22, 2012 and it will be available at major retailers in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Europe. The price starts at $299 (approx. Rs. 12,300).
