Sony announces New PSP Systems in North America

A new line up of Sony PSP video game console units has made its presence at the annual Destination PlayStation, for the North American market. This new range of limited edition systems comprises of Hannah Montana PSP Entertainment Pack and Assassin’s Creed PSP Entertainment Pack.

Sony also lifts the curtains off the blockbuster franchises such as MotorStorm and LittleBigPlanet on the PSP platform at the conference, Moreover, the company even unveils major software support from Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, MTV Games, Square Enix, Ubisoft and other publishing partners.

Speaking about the latest systems, Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA, stated, “With a year of record sales ushering us into the new year, we continue to raise the bar on providing consumers the deepest and broadest entertainment content for every member of the family to enjoy. With new content being added every day to the PlayStation Network combined with an unmatched line up of exclusive titles on PSP, and the roll out of truly groundbreaking games such as Killzone 2 for PS3, we remain confident in our approach and strategy for another record year of growth and momentum.”

Coming to the Hannah Montana PSP Entertainment Pack, this limited edition PSP system is designed specifically for female gamers. It features the “Lilac” PSP system, a 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and Disney Interactive’s Hannah Montana PSP game. In addition, it also packs in selected episodes from the Hannah Montana TV series on UMD and stickers to customize the PSP. Besides, the Hannah Montana is an exclusive dancing and rhythm action game for gamers to design the show and go on tour as a teen icon.

Next limited edition PSP entertainment pack is Assassin’s Creed PSP Entertainment Pack. It comes bundled with Ubisoft’s exclusive Assassin’s Creed franchise, “Piano Black” PSP and other contents.

Both the limited-edition PSP Entertainment Packs will be available this year for $199.99 (approx. Rs. 10,040).

Another addition to the PSP content is the incorporation of the two new game titles, such as LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm Arctic Edge. Both the critically acclaimed franchises have been brought from the PS3 terrain to the PSP.

In the LittleBigPlanet game, PSP gamers will witness new SackBoy adventures with the same gameplay. The players are expected to create and share all new levels of experiences on-the-go. While the MotorStorm Arctic Edge comes to the PSP arena with a new setting of Alaska.

The company will also offer Ubisoft’s Petz software line for the latest PSP devices by end of this year. Developed particularly for teens and female gamers, the Petz allows them to create and care for their cute, furry pets chosen from many different breeds of dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, dolphins, tigers and bunnies.

Moving away from the PSP platform, we come to the PS3 arena. Sony has introduced a new line-up of deepest and broadest content such as Killzone 2, inFamous, MLB’09: The Show, MAG, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves and God of War III.
