The year 2007 has been great for Nintendo. Nintendo has announced that its DS portable gaming console will end this year with the pride of selling more than 6 million units. With this sales figure the DS becomes the top-selling gaming device in the world.
“There’s no letup in sight,” said George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Nintendo DS appeals strongly to both core and casual gamers, and its momentum is set to propel us into 2008.”
Till end of November, Game Boy Advance held the record with 600,000 systems. However, on the occasion of Thanksgiving week gamers showed lot of enthusiasm in buying gaming devices. Thus Nintendo managed to sell more than 650,000 DS systems.
Apart from DS, Nintendo also managed to sell more than two million copies of New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Pokemon Diamond, and Super Mario 64.
