Sony a57 DSLR camera revealed, to be available in April

Photography enthusiasts will soon be able to lay hands on a brand new DSLR camera dubbed Sony a57. This snapper is the most recent addition to the company’s series of A-mount cameras featuring translucent mirror technology.

Thanks to the inclusion of the aforesaid intelligence, full-time prolonged AF in both still pictures and video shooting is attainable. The Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder installed in the camera provides a wide viewing angle along with a 100% field of view.

As the company suggests, this snapper is primarily aimed at ardent DLSR users. While it can shoot up to 12 frames per second in terms of still pictures, it offers 60p, 24p or 60i frame rates for HD videos. Additionally, it incorporates a set of creative modes which is inclusive of Auto Portrait Framing.

“Today’s DSLR consumer is looking for a higher level of control and flexibility in their camera. With the introduction of the new α57, we’re bringing blazing fast response rates, enhanced artistic capabilities and other advanced features to the mainstream DSLR marketplace, offering professional-grade performance at affordable prices,” commented Mike Kahn, director of the Alpha camera business group for Sony Electronics.

The latest DSLR camera from Sony is equipped with a 16.1MP Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor coupled with the latest Bionz engine. The latter helps manage an excessive amount of image data along with providing low-noise pictures and full HD video. Furthermore, the device also includes technologies such as By Pixel Super Resolution and 2x Clear Image Zoom digital zoom.

The Sony a57 price and availability details have been disclosed by the company. The SLT-A57K and SLT-A57 price tags read at $800 (approx. Rs. 39,900)and $700 (approx. Rs. 34,950), respectively. They are expected to hit stores in April this year.
