Olympus SP-810UZ Camera

Within two days of announcing the VG-145, Olympus declared the launch of the S series SP-810UZ which boasts of an optical zoom that stretches up to 36 times. The compact form factor of the Olympus SP-810UZ camera packs attributes for better performance and flexibility.

The camera employs a wide 1:2.9-5.7 24-864mm zoom lens along with AF Tracking technology to focus and capture images and videos of moving objects. The camera with its ten magic filters allows users to show off their creativity. Its 3D mode can be used to combine two pictures of the same subject taken from different angles which can be viewed on 3D displays.

“The SP-810UZ is the best zoom performance Olympus has ever delivered. No compact camera from Olympus has ever offered such impressive wide-angle zoom performance. As the most powerful camera in Olympus’ ultrazoom category, it succeeds the prestigious SP-800UZ,” quoted Jennifer Schmell, product manager Olympus Imaging America Inc.

Clicking a wide shot should not be a problem with this camera as it features the in-camera panorama. On panning the camera, this feature combines three shots into a single picture for that extremely wide shot. The Olympus SP-810UZ like most other cameras incorporates the auto mode to adjust settings like focus and lightning by itself. It also identifies the five commonly used functions.

An interesting feature is the Pet Detection which will capture the pet’s picture as and when it looks at the camera. Additionally, for Wi-Fi capabilities, it is integrated with the optional Eye-Fi SD card to directly upload pictures on the system. Some other characteristics are inclusive of dual image stabilization, ISO sensitivity, shadow adjustment and more. Cut down on blurring effects with TruePic III- image processor and view pictures on big screen TVs by connecting through HDMI.

The black colored Olympus SP-810UZ camera carries a price tag of $329.99 (approx. Rs. 14,570) and will start shipping in September 2011.
