Olympus’ sleek and compact VG-110 camera comes incorporated with a 12 megapixel sensor and 4x wide-angle zoom. The company has now moved in with its latest Tough-TG-810 shockproof, waterproof, freezeproof and crushproof compact camera.

Dressed in eye-catchy shades of black and silver, the camera comes along with a 14MP sensor and advanced Wi-Fi capabilities for seamless image sharing through an optional Eye-Fi Card. Besides GPS, electronic compass and manometer functions, the offering enables users to play HD videos on any HDTV using its HDMI capabilities. The 3D Photo Mode helps users snap up two shots of a particular scene from two distinct angles for a sharp still image.

The automatic underwater white balance function enhances white balance settings for Cousteau-like shots. Fitted with a 3-inch, 920,000-dot, Super Precision HyperCrystal III LCD, the gizmo renders vibrant panoramic images using its in-camera panorama. Besides, owners can use the Olympus [ib] software to effortlessly stitch around 10 images. The lightweight model can be plunged up to 33-feet below water. It also includes four preset underwater scene modes which enable users to click great pictures while scuba diving or snorkeling.

Featuring a 5x wide-angle 28mm optical zoom lens, the Tough-TG-810 boasts of shock-absorbing technology to lower shock from abrupt falls. Photo enthusiasts can ensure blur-free images, thanks to the digital image stabilization technology. Olympus’ mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization offers clear images by precisely altering the internal image sensor even in dim conditions with low shutter speeds. Other attributes include intelligent auto mode, Beauty mode, Magic Art Filters, in-camera panorama and AF Tracking.

The LED Illuminator on the front functions as a mini-flashlight to optimize focus and exposure for macro shooting. It also works with Bright Capture for low-light portraits. The TruePic III+ image processor puts forth detailed images with the help of all the pixel information for every picture. It also helps users capture sharp images at high ISO settings. The camera is SD card compatible and flaunts the Olympus [ib] software which renders photography workflow, browsing, editing and essential photo organizing functions. The offering packs in a wrist strap, a WIN/Mac USB cable, a video/audio cable, a Li-ion rechargeable battery, a quick start guide, an instruction manual along with a software CD-ROM and warranty card.

The Tough TG-810 is expected to hit stores in April 2011 for around $399.99 (approx Rs. 17,955).
