Canon flashes out three WFT units for digital DSLR cameras

Canon’s WFT-E2 II A Wireless File Transmitter, WFT-E4 II A Wireless File Transmitter and WFT-E5A Wireless File Transmitter for the EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D, correspondingly extend a number of wireless connectivity options like 802.11a/b/g, WFT Server mode and more.

The WFT device supply access to the camera over the internet in a similar manner to an FTP site permitting photo editors to download pictures through direct transfer mode. A WPS option on the WFT unit offers one-touch access to local wireless networks. They have been attributed with IEEE802.11a connectivity and thus boast of 802.11a/b/g compatibility. The WFT-E5A’s new Media Server function enables users to wirelessly transfer and display pictures on DLNA-complaint TVs and digital photo frames.

WFT Server mode lets up to three users to remotely connect to a camera through the average web browser to access images in real-time through Live View. It permits multiple users to download content from a camera, watch a remote live view of the device’s rear LCD screen and even remotely fire the camera all through the internet. EOS Utility mode functions like a wireless direct USB connection and delivers full-camera control while remote shooting with a full Live View preview on-screen.

A Camera Linking function allows owners to hook up a maximum of ten cameras to one camera and shoot with all devices simultaneously for capturing multiple angles of an object. This requires each camera to be equipped with a WFT unit. The WFT incorporates a USB Host port enabling users to attach heavy capacity storage units or GPS systems that expands storage capacities and allows geotagging, correspondingly. The WFT unit is compatible with Canon Bluetooth unit BU-30, equipping Bluetooth compatible GPS gizmos to connect and affix information to photos wirelessly.

Canon’s WFT-E4 II A and WFT-E5A units are presently available at $699.99 (approx. Rs.31,765), while the WFT-E2 II It will be out within the first quarter of the current year.
