Lumix G10 camera

Earlier in the day we had reported that Panasonic unveiled the Lumix DMC-G2 camera. Now the company unfurls onto the scene with a new offering entitled the Lumix DMC-G10 digital camera. As Panasonic suggests, this is the world’s lightest digital interchangeable lens camera complete with viewfinder and a plethora of advanced digital camera functions. Like the G2, this product can also record HD video and still images.

The latest device utilizes a mirrorless and portable design which does away with the optical viewfinder unit and mirror box. These attributes help the camera get its lightweight status. Photography enthusiasts can find the G10 in a complete kit which features the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens. The easy-to-use camera provides users with an iA mode with easy shooting assist functions. There is also a dedicated iA button which lights up in a blue haze when engaged.

“The Lumix G Micro System has revolutionized the photography industry ever since the release of the Panasonic G1, the world’s first interchangeable lens system camera based on the Micro Four Thirds System standard. We continue to expand this award-winning Lumix G Series, and with its easy-to-use features and compact size, we expect the G10 to attract a lot of new users who want to step-up from their point-and-shoots,” explained David Briganti, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

The iA brings to customers Mega O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Exposure and Intelligent Scene Selector. The camera has the ability to record 1280 x 720 HD video in different formats such as Motion JPEG, VGA, QVGA and WVGA. Customers can also record HD videos with different interchangeable high quality lenses. Through the AF Tracking, consumers can focus on any subject even if it moves around. This results in attaining clear and beautiful pictures without any blur. Via the Category Playback, users can only opt for viewing photos that have a specific registered face. There are a wide range of AF modes to choose from namely AF Tracking, 1-area AF, Face Detection AF/AE and 23-area AF.

The Lumix G10 also includes Live View Finder with a resolution of 202,000-dot equivalent. It has the ability to offer the view of an optical viewfinder and also provide information on the settings without having the need to remove the eye from the subject in question. The 60 fps Live View is noted to be powered by the Live MOS sensor. The Live View Finder and LCD both offer users nearly a complete field view. The camera also boasts of 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor, new Venus Engine HD II, highly-efficient Dust Reduction System. Other features also include My Color mode, Custom mode, Live View function and 26 Scene modes like Peripheral Defocus mode. The exposure meter has the ability to be displayed in P/A/S/M shooting modes. The Lumix DMC-G10 is noted to be compatible with Micro Four Thirds System lenses.
