Nikon Coolpix P7000

Nikon’s Coolpix range seems to be ever-expanding these days. After rolling out the S1100pj, the company has now introduced its compact camera under the Coolpix umbrella, the P7000. This one-of-its-kind offering is said to fulfill the needs of a spirited enthusiast as well as a professional photographer.

A 1/1.7-inch CCD sensor paired with a 7.1x wide angle optical zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens is embedded in the 10.1 megapixel camera for superior image quality. Vibrant colors, sharper frames and noise-free images can be effortlessly captured with the newly crafted device. Nikon’s new Expeed C2 digital image processing engine captures pictures with stunning colors and clarity.

“The Coolpix P7000 represents the best of both worlds. It is an exciting compact camera offering from Nikon, as it not only provides expanded creative control found in digital SLR cameras, but also provides photo enthusiasts with the portability and simplicity of Coolpix digital cameras. The P7000 is the perfect complement to an advanced photographer’s D-SLR, and it inspires the entry-level consumer to explore the boundaries of their photographic capabilities and fulfill their creative vision,” shared Bo Kajiwara, director of marketing, Nikon.

Amateur photographers can take advantage of the ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to 6400, expandable up to ISO 12,800 in low noise night mode of the P7000. Capturing special moments in a low-light environment or fast-moving objects is rendered by these ISO sensitivity ranges. Its five-way VR Image Stabilization system uses multiple tactics, subsuming optical lens, to reduce the effects of camera shake and remove blurring while shooting handheld.

Users can zoom and capture pictures at their preferred angle of view through the device’s 28-200mm (35mm equivalent) lens. In addition to a dedicated Quick Menu dial, the camera provides a seamless user interface by adding controls and buttons for key features like ISO, white balance, bracketing and exposure compensation. The freedom of creativity is lent by shooting RAW/NRW files which are compatible with Mac and Windows OS and 0.8 inches close macro abilities.

Thanks to the latest Coolpix camera’s mic input jack and HDMI output, users can enjoy HD video at 720p at 24fps record with optical zoom and autofocus control, including playback. Other highlights such as scene auto selector, smart portrait system, 3 -inch 921,000-dot clear color display electronic virtual horizon indicator, and large optical viewfinder with diopter adjustment dial are also bundled in. Apart from this, users can also mount an accessory microphone or Nikon Speedlight on the camera’s hot shoe.

Nikon’s Coolpix P7000 is expected to be available by late September for $499.95 (approx Rs. 23,315).
