Canon has revealed ten new cameras and camcorders in India. The products launched at an event promise to cater to the dynamic consumer needs in India. This product launch also plans to display the cutting edge technology that is loaded into each of these Canon products. With this move, the company plans to target the festival shopping season.

The products unveiled at this event include six digital compact cameras, three digital video cameras, one Digital SLR camera, one compact photo printer and three professional lenses. The first product introduced at this event was the IXUS 200 IS. This camera is the first camera to feature a touchscreen IXUS along with a 24mm wide angle lens. The other camera that this event glimpsed was the most rumored Canon EOS 7D DSLR. This camera is said to bridge the distance between armature and professional photographers.

Speaking on the occasion, Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India said, “Customers in India are getting evolved and refining their choices constantly. Canon believes that R&D and innovation are the co-drivers to counter any downturn. With today’s launch we have introduced 37 new products during 2009. We decided the timing of the most awaited festival in East ‘ Durga Puja’ for the introduction of these new products. Our new integrated marketing thrust including special offers for customers is expected to give us a record growth of 50% during this festival period in India “

Alok Bharadwaj also commented, “Our research indicates that last mile activation is the most challenging element. Hence we have rolled out 3 new customer engagement programmes from Tier II cities in East covering photo studios, photo enthusiasts and retails points. The technologies introduced today are revolutionary and will enhance the experience of photography for each user and take photography to the next level. Canon has introduced the festive offer scheme under which every customer gets an assured gold plated coin, on purchase of any imaging communication product. This offer is valid on all products across DC, DV and DLR catagories.”

The Selphy series of photo printers was also a part of this release event. This printer features a longer battery life and caters to the instant photography segment. Canon also plans to launch the Go Pro marketing program. This program plans to hold activities like trainings, workshops, seminars and photo tours with the help of 12 famous photographers and 6 expert trainers. Apart from this, the company is also gearing up to host the Canon league for its selected partners. This league focuses on classifying partners as Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze partners on the basis of the sales made.

Along with these various programs and the camera and camcorder, the company will also launch the ‘I can with Canon’ campaign. The company will also introduce new additions to the HD camcorder range of its sub brand Legria series. The pricing details of these new products are still under wraps.
