Canon XH A1S and XH G1S HD Camcorders

Canon US has announced the launch of two new camcorders, namely XH A1S and XH G1S.

Successors of XH A1 and XH G1, both the high-definition camcorders offer greater customized image control and improved audio capabilities that are perfect for corporate video production, wedding and events, or filmmaking.

Compatible with HDV tapes, the A1S and G1S ensure digital video recording of long-format applications. Alternatively, users can record directly on an external Hard Disk Drive by using the FS-CV DTE Recorder.

Based on Genuine Canon 20x HD video lens, the Canon XH A1S and XH G1S HD enable users to manually zoom and focus while capturing videos, making it easy to operate both the functions simultaneously in either manual or Autofocus mode. Canon incorporates three independent manual adjustment rings such as focus, zoom and iris. Moreover, the company has also added more lens innovations that comprise of three sensitivity settings for the manual focus ring; smooth movement when starting or stopping zooms; and selectable rotational angles between the tele and wide ends of the lens zoom. Supporting the company’s SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system, the lens has the ability to correct camera shake immediately.

Other user-friendly functionalities of the camcorders include image/colour settings, camera-control functions, viewfinder display choices, multiple frame rates with switch-to-frame rates option, including between 1080-line 16:9 aspect ration HD video and 480-line 4:3 aspect ratio SD video.

Furthermore, the XH A1S and XH G1S HD camcorders come equipped with the Total Image Control that offers 23 custom presets, extending from +/-9 to +/-50 steps and an ability to save custom image preset files onboard SD/SDHC memory card and also for sharing in Canon camcorders like XL H1S, XL H1A, XH G1, and XH A1 amongst others.

The camcorders sport a 2.8-inch widescreen LCD and feature two-channel audio performance and two built-in XLR terminals with separate audio-input sensitivity settings. Users can easily record audio from internal microphone as well as external one simultaneously. The camcorders come packed with a new metal headphone jack and audio (manual) limiter.

Both the HD camcorders also include Canon’s revolutionary Instant AF focusing system, DIGIC DV II proprietary digital signal processor and a noise reduction system with a new gamma system.

Additionally, the Canon XH G1S HD camcorder also comes pre-loaded with an exclusive trio of feature of – HD-SDI/SD-SDI Output, SMPTE Timecode Input/Output and Genlock Input.

Expected to reach the US market by December, the Canon XH A1S and XH G1S HD camcorders carry a price tag of $3,999 (approx. Rs. 1.91,166) and $6,999 (approx. Rs. 3,34,577), respectively.
