Android-based HTC Magic Smartphone to release soon by Vodafone

After the success of T-Mobile G1 android phone, HTC now lifts the curtains off the world’s second Android powered smartphone called the Magic at MWC. The announcement also stated that HTC Magic will exclusively be available through Vodafone in the UK, Spain, Germany and France (SFR).

Featuring the conventional HTC form factor, the Magic comes in a tablet-shaped design sans a slide-out keyboard.

Patrick Chomet, Global Director of Terminals at Vodafone, commented “Delivering an unbeatable mobile internet experience for our customers is a priority for Vodafone, so we are very excited to be introducing our first Android-powered smartphone in the spring.”

Moreover, HTC Magic is claimed to be a revolutionary phone that boasts to offer improved internet capabilities with feature-rich applications.

Peter Chou, President and Chief Executive at HTC, remarked “The HTC Magic embodies the compact style and sophistication for which HTC has come to be known, with the powerful and intuitive internet experience for which the Android platform was designed. We are proud of our partnership with Vodafone and excited about making the Android-powered HTC Magic available to Vodafone customers in Europe.”

The smartphone sports a 3.2 inch touch screen display with a virtual keyboard and a trackball for effortless navigation. It also features a 3.2 mega pixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA-based 3G data access and a suite comprising of supported email providers such as Google Mail, POP3, IMAP and Google Talk for instant messaging. In addition, it supports numerous Google applications such as YouTube, Maps and Search.

HTC also states that the Magic smartphone will be available in Italy non-exclusively through Vodafone. Although the price is still unclear, the HTC Magic smartphone is slated to hit the market in this year.
