Vodafone to release Nokia N97 in July

Vodafone has announced the launch of the most awaited Nokia N97. The phone is scheduled to be launched this July in UK. Designed to meet the needs of today’s netizens, the N97 offers a 3.5-inch touch display with up to 16 million colors nHD16:9 widescreen (640×360 pixels) and a full QWERTY keyboard.

This Nokia Nseries device packs in a variety of technologically advanced features including multiple sensors, 16GB expandable memory, processing power and connection speed. The phone comes with an ‘always open’ window which allows users to connect to their favorite social networking sites and internet destinations anytime, anywhere.

Vice President heading Nokia Nseries, Jonas Geust quoted, “From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence. Together with the Ovi services announced today, the Nokia N97 mobile computer adjusts to the world around us, helping stay connected to the people and things that matter most. With the Nokia N97, Nseries leads the charge in helping to transform the Internet into your Internet.”

Nokia N97 supports both systems WCDMA 900/1900/2100 as well as EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. It has an S60 5th Edition user interface and equips a Nokia BP-4L, 1500mAh battery. It has a dimension of 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm and 18.25 (L x W x H) mm at the camera area but it weighs only 150g.

The main highlights of the phone are its following features which include 48GB memory consisting of 32GB on board and 16GB expandable via microSD memory card. It can play back MPEG-4/SP and MPEG-4AVC/H.264 at 30fps, at VGA resolution. The phone plays RealVideo format files up to QCIF at 30fps and supports Windows Media (WMV9) up to CIF at 30fps. Its music player can playback formats like MP3, ACC, eACC, eACC+ and WMA while the Internet browser supports Flash Lite 3.0/ Flash Video.

The main camera of N97 includes a Carl ZeissTessar lens and captures images up to 5 mega pixels (2584*1938) in JPEG (16.7 million colors)/ EXIF (24-bit color) format. It can capture video in MPEG-4 VGA (640*480) at 30fps. It has an Aperture of F2.8 and Focal length of 5.4mm. It also has a Dual LED camera flash and video light which brings pictures and videos to life.

The battery of this techno gadget is designed to suit ones need. The battery life offers a talk time of up to 320min (3G) and 400min (GSM), a standby time of up to 400hrs (3G) and 430hrs (GSM). It has a video playback time of up to 4.5hrs (offline mode) and a music playback time of up to 37hrs (offline mode).

The phone’s connectivity and data services include a WLAN IEEE802.11b/g with an UPnP support, Micro-USB connector, Hi-Speed USB 2.0. It bundles up 3.5mm stereo headphone plug, TV-out support (PAL/NTSC), 2.0 Bluetooth wireless technology with A2DP stereo audio, enhanced data rates (EDR) and GPS receiver with support for assisted GPS (A-GPS).

Although no price has yet been quoted for this Nokia masterpiece but there is no doubt that the price won’t stop the new generation netizens from purchasing it.

    Vodafone just called me wanting me to upgrade – they say N97 now delayed until December according to internal email. For all providers, not only Vodafone.

    Omg.. I have been waiting since the beginning of the year. This is a bad news for me.. Because i was planning to wait the price drop but now it will be realeased on december.. I’ll need to wait a full 1 and a half year to wait th price drop.. Omg.. Btw.. is the first batch stable and is it comes with Skype call software? Since i readfrom some magazine says that only the 2nd batch comes with skype.. Anyway.. Do u have an idea about the price??
