D-link offers business as well as casual customers an Ethernet-to-coax kit called as the HD MediaBridge Starter Kit also known as DXN-221. The company provides a solution for connecting various devices in many rooms. The kit allows quick transfer of music, gaming and HD video.
The DXN-221 is a user-friendly device which establishes secure connections expanding the home network to devices in many rooms. This is done without the need of disrupting the cable service. Applications which require bandwidth like HD media-streaming, online multiplayer gaming and music sharing can be added to the home network. There are two adapters included in this kit. They are bridged together with a coaxial F-type connector and wired Ethernet port.
To enable network and internet access in more than one room, the D-Link HD MediaBridge Adapter can be connected to customers’ home network router and then to any coaxial outlet at home. Another adapter can be connected in the other room to a coaxial outlet to connect devices which are Ethernet-enabled like media players and PCs. Additional devices located in different rooms can also be connected by linking switches like the D-Link DGS-2205 5-port desktop switch to the DXN-221.

He further added, “The technology is a natural complement to our popular networking solutions for moving data quickly into areas of a home where it may be difficult to run a cable or achieve a strong Wi-Fi signal.â€
Multiple adapters can be placed around the house in rooms with coaxial outlets as the technology incorporated in the adapters also works as a point-to-multipoint network. The DXN-221 has easy plug-and–play installation which allows Ethernet-enabled digital media like Slingbox and TiVo to be integrated with the internet and home network. Game consoles like Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 can be connected to the internet through the adapter.
The Multimedia over Coax Alliance has certified the DXN-221 adaptor which allows other electric home technologies to work with it. As the adapter works within the 800-1500MHz range, homes wired for Internet services and cable TV is compatible with this device.
