Point Grey Flea3 Camera

The pocket size Point Grey Flea3 is the newest member of the company’s Flea3 USB 3.0 camera series that flaunts an 8.8MP lens with 4096 x 2160 resolution that captures at 21fps. The new model takes the form of an oversized ice cube and packs in several multifaceted features, reportedly at an unbeatably low price point.

The device packs Sony’s newfangled IMX121 sensor and drags along Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS architecture that captures low-noise images with crisp detailing and enhances quality. It features 4K2K resolution and a USB 3.0 port that makes it useful in fields like ophthalmology and productive in other high resolution color applications such as automatic optical inspections and interactive multimedia.

“Since demonstrating the world’s first USB 3.0 camera in 2009, Point Grey continues to push the boundaries of imaging technology,” commented Michael Gibbons, Director of Sales and Marketing. “This camera is our latest innovation; we packed a high quality 8.8 MP, 4K2K sensor into the Flea3 and did it at an unbeatable price-point.”

Even with a 29 x 29 x 30mm ice-cube structure, the device fits in features that exploit the USB 3.0 service. These integrated attributes include things like ‘a 32MB frame buffer, on-camera power, temperature, and status monitoring; and in-field updatable firmware.’

Users can employ the ingrained color interpolation, gamma correction and pixel binning abilities of the snapper to capture a perfect image. It also provides a look up table feature to enable easy navigation.

The Point Grey Flea3 price is tagged at $945 (approx. Rs. 52,560). It can be picked up via the company’s retail outlets and also through its network of distributors.
