Sigma has given its DP1 digital camera a makeover and has named it the DP1s. This new version of the camera is said to be a DSLR camera disguised as a compact digital camera. The highlights of the camera include 14 megapixel image sensor and digital zoom. The sturdy built of the DP1s further enhances its appeal.

Being a successor to the DP1 that was released back in March last year, the DP1s claims to improvise on the features of this camera. The DP1s incorporates a 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor. The camera also promises to improve the performance of the camera while shooting backlit subjects.

This Sigma camera comes embedded with a Quick Set function. This function can be allocated to the digital zoom buttons, providing faster and more convenient operations. The other enhanced features that the DP1s flaunts include three-dimensional feel and high resolution and rich tones with a natural touch.

There is no official word on the pricing or availability details of the Sigma DP1s as yet. But the camera is speculated to launch around November. Considering its specifications, this camera is sure to hold the attention of many.
