Edimax BR-6258n Nano Router Keeping portability in mind, Edimax has launched its BR-6258n nano Wi-Fi router. Claimed to provide data speeds of 150Mbps over the 802.11n standard, the device is also said to be energy-efficient and space saving.

With its miniature design, The Edimax BR-6258n Wi-Fi router is highly portable, convenient for users to share an internet connection in a hotel or conference room and places where only one internet cable is provided. Besides its compactness, the company states its device to be a handy network companion for users who are constantly on the go.

Fitted with a WAN and LAN port, the device can be used as a router or a wireless adapter. Also users can share their wired internet connect through the BR-6258n router, creating their own Wi-Fi network. Furthermore, devices with an Ethernet port such as a TV, a game console, or any network client can be made wireless using the nano router.

Complementing the portability feature of the device is its USB capabilities in which users can power the router using a USB chord or a computer’s USB port. Additionally, for achieving a secure network connection, the WPS button allows the same with a simple click instead of a long configuration procedure.

Meeting with the IEEE 802.11b/g/n standards, the device is said to achieve a transmission rate of 150Mbps max. Also, compared to previous generation 802.11b/g routers, the BR-6258n can provide up to three times the coverage area. Further, the company claims the device to only supply the needed amount of power based on the automatic detection of wireless transference, maintaining its green policy. A test conducted in comparison with non-green Wi-Fi routers stated that the BR-6258n router saved 50 percent power at the same download speed and 75 percent power when the device was idle.

The Edimax BR-6258n 150Mbps wireless broadband nano router is available for a price of Rs. 2,500.
