Exactly 28 years after the original Macintosh was released, the Zero1.tv has announced the launch of the VooMote Zapper that transforms Apple devices into universal remote controllers. This extremely lightweight dongle is compatible with all iDevices running the iOS 5 platform such as iPhone, iPad and iPod.
The paperclip-sized dongle need not be powered and works without batteries. It lets users control most of their audio and video gear via the Apple mobile devices. The room to room function of the Zapper makes it flexible enough to be used from anywhere as opposed to base station solutions. Additionally, this simple and intuitive device is also easy to use as once the dongle is connected, the free app is automatically downloaded which prompts the set up.
“The VooMote Zapper was made to bridge the convenience of the old trusty universal remote controls with new App-enabled technology of the future. We wanted to make a solution that people would really pick up and use every day not because it was “gadgety†but because it was, in fact, a better solution for their lifestyles. Once installed, VooMote Zapper dongle makes the device capable of controlling over hundreds of thousands of electronic devices, says the company. Moreover, it also negates the need to pair devices via Bluetooth or establish internet connections. And if that’s not all, the iCloud compatibility should let users transfer the customized configurations to other Apple gadgets which use the same Apple ID.
The VooMote Zapper dongle price is $69.99 (approx. Rs. 3,500). It is available in shades of black and white through Apple.com and will hit Apple retail stores on February 2012. The VooMote Zapper app is available at iTunes for free. Also, the dongle in eight other colors can be purchased from the official company website.
