The RCA Mobile TV Tablet release date may not be clear, but the company has announced price details of this 8-inch DMT580D device with a DTV tuner. It supports OTA digital and mobile broadcasts and is slated to be showcased at the CES next week.
The Mobile TV Tablet has been integrated with a mobile tuner powered by Dyle mobile TV which tags along as many as 130 channels for on-the-go viewing. Besides this an OTA ATSC DTV tuner has also been deployed in the slate. In addition to allowing users to watch live television on the move, the device also offers most functions of a standard Android-based touchscreen tab. It comes with built-in Wi-Fi for wireless internet access, if there’s an open hotspot in the vicinity.
And if that’s not enough, the slab is also capable of broadcasting digital TV channels not affiliated to Dyle. It works towards enhancing the mobile TV viewing experience by displaying program details on the screen, digital closed captioning, and keeping users informed about signal strength at all times. It can be personalized as well, using attributes like favorite channel or language settings and auto scan.
Its front panel is dominated by an 8-inch HD IPS multi-touch display that can render clear pictures in 1024 x 768p resolution for an improved viewing experience. The DMT580D’s internal working is carried out under the supervision of a Cortex A5 chipset which processes at a maximum speed of 1GHz to enable prospective customers to launch multiple applications at the same time. And what’s more, the device is integrated with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard flash memory for hoarding digital content.
Incorporated with a telescoping antenna, the slate boasts of employing dual cameras to facilitate face-to-face conferencing, video recording and capturing still shots. There are a couple of speakers for reproducing clear audio and GPS for turn-by-turn navigation. It sports a USB port, a micro USB port, a microSD card slot and an HDMI connector. This slab can cough up the juice for about 4 hours of TV viewing time and close to 10 hours of web browsing time.
The RCA Mobile TV Tablet will hit store shelves during spring for $299 (approx. Rs. 16,465).
