The Apple fever is about to spread even quicker with the new iPad hitting the U.S. and 9 other countries on March 16. It will be released in Australia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany, Singapore, the U.S. and the UK. It is also expected to reach the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The fruity giant’s latest slate shows off a 9.7-inch Retina display which should deliver sharp images owing to its higher ppi specification. It is equipped with a 5MP iSight snapper that also has 1080p video recording capabilities. The integrated battery is expected to function for approximately 10 hours, after which it will have to be juiced up again.

While its predecessor worked on the A5 chip, this fresh entrant is powered by Apple’s new A5X dual core chip with quad core graphics. The Wi-Fi + 4G model is compatible with 4G LTE networks as well as 3G speeds inclusive of DC-HSDPA and HSPA+. The refreshed set of iLife apps also stays put for the newest member of the Apple family. Flaunting a signature sleek exterior, the offering is available in plain Wi-Fi builds too.

The new iPad price is tagged at $499 (approx. Rs. 25,160), $599 (approx. Rs. 30,200) and $699 (approx. Rs. 35,250) for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants, respectively. The slate will ship to other parts of the globe starting March 23. Belgium, Portugal, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Greece and Hungary are on the list. So are Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Macau, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Austria, Poland, The Netherlands, Slovenia, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
