Kindle Fire HD users can opt out of ads for $15

Kindle Fire HD Offer

Coming as an added flexibility, fans eyeing the Kindle Fire HD can opt out of ads by shelling out a sum of $15. This move will basically allow prospective users of the slate to remove special offers from the lock screen and other areas.

The action has been taken following a minor concern expressed by consumers who did not wish to tie up with special offers. The $15 cost is supposed to be paid as a one-time price after which the ads will be taken off from the bottom of the screen or the lock screen. The special offers were first announced with the e-ink Kindle, where buyers had to pay $30 to opt out of ads.

According to an Amazon spokesperson and as revealed by TechCrunch, “We know from our Kindle reader line that customers love our special offers and very few people choose to opt out. We’re happy to offer customers the choice.”
