HCL ME U1, MyEduTab K12, MyEduTab HE Android 4.0 tabs launched in India

The pocket-friendly portfolio of tablets in India has new members to boast of – the HCL ME U1, MyEduTab K12 and MyEduTab HE, all running the Android 4.0 platform. While the ME U1 is designed to suit the needs of regular consumers in the country, the MyEduTab slates are aimed at the education sector.

First up is the U1 tab, a relatively affordably priced tablet running the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform. Flaunting a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen of 800 x 480p resolutions, it employs a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM under the hood. Its 4GB internal memory can be increased through the expansion slot that supports a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity.

The manufacturer has thrown in a front facing camera along with a 3600mAh battery, a USB port and a mini USB connector. The Wi-Fi enabled slab is also compliant with 3G data connectivity via a USB modem. Besides access to the ME App Store, the tablet is pre loaded with applications as well as goodies worth Rs. 3,000.

The HCL MyEduTab K12 and the higher education version of this slate look forward to offering a cloud-based experience to students and teachers. Allowing personalized learning, the K12 variant has been incorporated with topic revision and self assessment apps in addition to NCERT textbooks. The other MyEduTab claims to be apt for educational as well as entertainment purposes. Besides text books and educational content, these devices have been loaded with parental control applications too.

The HCL ME U1, MyEduTab K12, MyEduTab HE price and availability details have been announced already. The Me U1 carries a price tag of Rs. 7,999, while the K12 and HE versions of the MyEduTab can be picked up for Rs. 11,499 and Rs. 9,999, respectively. They are slated to be made available in India starting this month.
