4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook will reach Canada on August 9

BlackBerry Tablet

After numerous delays and supposed launch dates, the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook is finally set to break cover in Canada on August 9. Fans can expect a smooth and fluid web browsing experience, as it is 4G LTE that breathes life into the slate.

The tablet is outfitted with a 7-inch LCD display offering visuals in a resolution of 1024 × 600p. It leans on 1GB RAM and operates on a 1.5GHz dual core processor. Unlike other variants, this version will ship with only 32GB memory onboard. The dual cameras perched on either side cannot go unnoticed as their resolutions stand at 3MP and 5MP, respectively. The primary snapper can record clips at 1080p.

“Yes, you read the title correctly. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet you know and love is now even better, with a new model available in Canada on select carriers beginning August 9th that has built-in support for ultra-fast 4G LTE networks,” states a post on the official BlackBerry blog.

The web-browsing experience is expected to be further accentuated with HTML5 and Flash 11.2 support. The device is shipping in 2 versions – Wi-Fi and Cellular + Wi-Fi. For multimedia purposes, it hosts slots for HDMI, stereo speakers and microphones. The fact that it tips the scales at 425g should render the tablet conveniently portable. Needless to say, a number of applications from the BlackBerry App World are ready at hand. In terms of connectivity, it supports Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, HSPA+ and a micro-USB port. The OS 2.0.1 commands the entire show.

For now, potential users in Canada can wait for the 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook price details to drop by.
