Designed to protect Apple’s 9.7-inch tablet from external damages, the Bowden and Sheffield minimalist iPad cases are said to be hand crafted with locally produced materials and portray a simple as well as a clean look. Both accessories apparently posses a similar blueprint. And according to the makers, the only difference that’s noticeable between them is the material used.
Measuring 10 and 7/8-inch x 8 and 1/2-inch as well as 3/4 of an inch thick, they should provide a proper fit for the iPad 2 and the new iPad tablet. Furthermore, a magnetic closure system incorporated within these sleeves is capable of securely holding the tablet in place. For those who have the 9.7-inch slate embedded with a Smart Cover, designers Levi and Eric seemed to have kept that in mind as well.
Both cases are crafted to place the Smart Cover on the outer body, beneath the leather or felt lids of the Bowden and Sheffield, respectively. Being high on durability, the former accessory is crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum that’s bead-blasted and hard-anodized to deliver a durable form factor.
Potential users will have options of hand finished walnut or cherry hardwood and black or brown full-grain chrome-tanned leather on this particular variant. The Sheffield case is created from milled polycarbonate along with users’ choice of hand finished cherry or walnut hardwood. Besides being cut from natural wool felt, it can even be used as a stand for added convenience in typing, surfing the web and much more.
The Bowden and Sheffield price amounts to $150 each. Both iPad cases are currently hosted on Kickstarter. The project will be funded on achieving a pledge of $20,000 within the next 22 days.
