Lenovo ThinkPad tablet to officially hit available status this month

Previously stated to be available from August 2nd, the Lenovo ThinkPad tablet hits a bump in the road delaying its arrival to August 23. Targeted towards business and professional use, the slate will come equipped with business specific applications in a Wi-Fi and 3G model.

Powered by the Android 2.3 OS, the device is ideal for professionals on the go. To protect personal data, the slate is equipped with layered data security features and solutions like the support to virtual desktop with Citrix Receiver, LanDesk and email from Good Technology. Additionally, to prevent unauthorized use, the tablet can be remotely disabled it if lost or stolen.

Equipped with a 10.1-inch WXGA with resolution of 1280 x 800, the device comes with the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processors for extreme multitasking. Sporting an IPS scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display, crisp visibility is achieved even at a 178-degree viewing angle. Connectivity solutions include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G standard USB port, full sized SD card reader support, mini-HDMI port and a file copy utility to share media and documents with other users. Additionally, applications like ooVoo enable convenient synchronization when connected to a Windows 7 PC.

The Lenovo ThinkPad tablet will be available from August 23 and is pinned with a price tag of $479 (approx. Rs. 21,110) for the 16GB model whereas, bundled with the digitizer pen, the slate comes at a price of $509 (approx. Rs.22,432). Additionally, the 32GB ThinkPad can be purchased for $589 (approx. Rs.25,958) inclusive of the digitizer pen.
