The tablet PC these days is probably as mobile as it can possibly get among PCs. Makers of Tablet PCs and UMPCs, TabletKiosk, has now unveiled three new models of Tablet PCs running on Intel Atom processors. They have been dubbed the eo a7330D Ultra-Mobile PC, eo TufTab a7230XD Rugged Ultra-Mobile PC, and Sahara NetSlate a230T touch screen Tablet PC.

The 7” eo a733D features Wacom’s auto-switching dual mode resistive sunlight viewable touch screen with advanced handwriting recognition and finger touch control. The rugged eo Tuf Tab a7239XD has an auto-switching active digitizer just like its aforementioned cousin. It has an embedded RFID reader, 1D/2D barcode scanner, TPM v1.2, a 2.0MP camera with auto focus, 1GB Ethernet, and RS-232 Serial port. Both devices are powered by Intel Atom Z530P processors, with 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD including optional SSD, 802.11a/b/c/n dual channel Wi-Fi and connections to 3G and 3.5G WWAN. High-speed USB technology allows the features of dual hot swappable batteries and permit Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR connectivity too. Business functionality includes bar code scanning and credit card swiping abilities.

“We designed the new eo a7330D in response to the industry-specific challenges which we felt were not being met by the current crop of 7-inch devices,” declared Martin Smekal, president of TabletKiosk. “Instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all device that must be paired with external attachments, cords and dongles, the new eo a7330D with its modular expansion system can be easily and cleanly customized to perform specific business functions, thus providing seamless integration with industry standard applications.”

The 12.1” Sahara NetSlate a230T tablet PC has been toned down from the original i400 series. Functioning with the Intel Atom N270 processor, its 1GB RAM capacity can be upgraded to 2GB. It also features a 120GB HDD that is SSD optional, 802.11a/b/c/n dual channel Wi-Fi, integrated 3G or 3.5G WWAN module and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

“The Intel Atom processor is a great low power design perfectly suited for bringing the Internet to small devices, from MIDs and netbooks to tablets and smartphones,” explained Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in Intel’s Ultra Mobility group. “The Atom processor is helping to accelerate hundreds of innovative designs, like the new eo Ultra-Mobile PCs and Sahara NetSlate products that TabletKiosk is announcing today.”

All three tablets are sold with openSUSE Linux 11, Microsoft Windows Vista Business and Windows XP embedded. The company offers a free upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional for those tablets bought before 2011. There is also the option of downgrading to Windows XP or Tablet PC Edition, in case of the eo models.

TabletKiosk is scheduled to start shipping their newest line of eo tablets in October, 2009 while the a230T is already out for sale. The price tagged to these models is not yet out.
