A Touchscreen Tablet from Apple by 2010?

Apple iPod Tablet Apple has always been known for rumors and has constantly featured in the grapevine zone. Recently, there were gossips all over the web about the touchscreen tablet and iPod tablet. The company is back in the news with the mention of the touchscreen tablet’s release date.

Rumor says that Apple’s Media Pad touchscreen tablet would hit the reality bite, but not sooner than 2010. We presume the whispered prediction to be true and this opinion is conveyed by perennial Apple commentator, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.

In a published note by Munster, his opinion suggested that the development of a touchscreen tablet, which might be termed as “media pad”, is in progress. However, it is likely to entail a third-generation of mobile OS X, which would be “more robust” as compared to the one in the iPhone. It is even understood that this innovation will make it to the market by 2010 for a price range of $500 (approx. Rs. 23,555) to $700 (approx. Rs. 32,970).

“We expect the development of such an OS to be underway currently, but its complexity, along with our conversations with a key company in the mobile space, leads us to believe it will not launch until CY10″ says Gene Munster, analyst, Piper Jaffray – reports Slashgear.

Apparently, it would carry an approximate 10-inch capacitive touchscreen display (similar to the design of the larger iPod touch), Wi-Fi and VoIP functionality along with internet access. Though this supposed device wouldn’t need a keyboard for videos, internet surfing, iPhone apps or e-books, the speculated specs imply that the media pad would compete with the netbooks in the market.
