Dell announces the launch of its Latitude XT2 convertible tablet PC in the American market.

Boasting multi-touch capabilities, it works on N-Trig capacitive touch digitizer for multi-touch support that enables human gestures such as a pinch or tap to scroll, pan, rotate and zoom. Using this attribute, users can easily leave behind the usage of the conventional touchpad application to navigate through menus.

“As part of our commitment to deliver the best mobility experience, Dell revolutionized the tablet space with the first multi-touch capable product that allows customers to use the entire screen,” noted Brett McAnally, director, Dell Product Group. “Today, we’re extending that leadership with the Latitude XT2 to deliver more performance, security and manageability.”

The Dell latitude XT2 convertible Tablet PC packs in a 1.2 GHz SU9300 or the 1.4 GHz SU9400 Montevina Core 2 Duo ULV processor, Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics, up to 5 GB DDR3 RAM and features storage options like 80 GB, 120 GB SATA HDD and 64 GB SSD.

Other features of the XT2 include a 12.1-inch LED screen delivering a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, full-size keyboard, touchpad and point stick. It also bundles wireless LAN, Mobile broadband (EVDO, HSUPA/HSDPA) connectivity, fingerprint reader, Windows Vista operating system and a host of ports for USB, Expresscard and SD card support.

It works for up to 11 hours and 28 minutes on a single charge.

Priced at $2,399 onwards, the Dell Latitude XT2 convertible tablet PC is available from www.dell.com/latitude.
