Samsung America yesterday announced to expand its Q1 Ultra family of Ultra Mobile PCs with three new members, namely Q1U-SSDXP, the Q1U-ELXP and Q1U-XP. All new PCs will run on the Windows XP Tablet Edition operating system.

Samsung’s latest UMPCs incorporate AVS Now instant-on feature which allows users to enjoy a host of multimedia applications, including video, movies, music and still photos, without booting up Windows.

The Q1U-SSDXP is the first tablet PC from Samsung to incorporate a solid state Flash NAND hard drive rather than the conventional disk drive. As a result, the PC performs faster than other tablet PCs having traditional disk drive. The Flash NAND hard drive holds 32 GB of memory.

“Since pioneering the UMPC form factor one year ago, Samsung has relied on customer insights to deliver a range of ultra mobile computing solutions that best meet the varied needs of our customers,” said Bret Berg, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Samsung Electronics America, Inc.

Berg added, “With the Q1U-SSDXP, Q1U-XP and the Q1U-ELXP, Samsung has delivered three new solutions that appeal to a broader range of personal and professional users.”

The other two UMPC announced are Q1U-XP and Q1U-ELXP. Both the tablets are mainly designed for B2B commercial markets and run on the Windows XP Tablet Edition operating system. Besides, they feature the new Intel Ultra Mobile Processor running at a clock speed ranging from 600MHz to 800 MHz, with 1 GB of high speed DDR2 system memory.

The Q1U-ELXP is powered by the 600MHz A100 Ultra Mobile processor and a 40GB hard disk drive. While the Q1U-XP UMPC is powered by an 800MHz A110 Ultra Mobile processor and a 60GB hard disk drive.

To ensure security, all three new ultra mobile PCs are equipped with a built-in biometric fingerprint reader. The technology assures safety of confidential data even in case of theft or loss.

The all new entries in Q1 series come along with multiple connectivity options such as 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 3 USB 2.0 ports.

Some of the other features that the Samsung Q1U-SSDXP, the Q1U-ELXP and Q1U-XP UMPCs carry are:
