Seagate SV35.5 Series Hard Drives for Digital Video Surveillance Systems, Unveiled

Seagate Logo Addressing the growing demands of digital video surveillance market, Seagate has launched its latest series of hard drives, named the SV35.5.

Optimized for continuous 24×7 operations, the SV35.5 hard drive comes in disk capacities ranging from 250GB to 1TB. It claims to provide flexible DVR design capabilities as a video surveillance DVR, network DVR or for direct and network-attached JBOD video surveillance storage.

Supporting 3Gbps SATA interface, the reliable Seagate SV35.5 hard drive ensures best-in-class performance, acoustics and power consumption. It is capable of delivering performance-tuned 140 MB/s sustained sequential data rates and ATA-7 streaming commands for high-speed transfers. Further, it has 7200RPM spin speeds and cache capabilities that support 8MB for 250GB, 16MB for 500GB and 32MB for 1TB.

Additionally, it also offers a built-in error recovery for non-stop streaming, thermal monitoring and reporting, and unique user-selectable partitioning. It is even compatible with 47 simultaneous FULL D1 (704X576) video streams and consumes power at 5 watts for 250GB and 7 watts for 500GB as well as 1TB.

Backed by a 5-year warranty, the Seagate SV35.5 Series of hard drives is currently shipping to distributors across the world and there is no clarity in the pricing details.
