Hitachi reveals 2TB 7200RPM hard drive

Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 Users can now experience high performance and high storage capacity in a single package. Hitachi recently revealed its 7200RPM 2TB hard drive dubbed Deskstar 7K2000.

The 3.5” hard drive claims to offer highest storage space ever through a single hard drive. The device employs thermal fly height control technologies which employ an integrated heating element that maintains a constant fly-height right through the read and write operations. Thus, it improves the data integrity, drive performance and reliability.

The storage device offers 32MB cache buffer and operates on SATA 3GB/s interface. The Deskstar 7K2000 employs advanced power management techniques that reduces power consumption during idle period. The device features 512 byte sector formatting that ascertains compatibility with main stream computing environments.

The 2TB hard drive is built with halogen free design for eco-friendly footprint. The device utilizes patented load/unload design which makes it possible to move the data heads away from the disk. Due to this, direct contact between the head and the disk are avoided which diminishes the risk of shock damage and enhances reliability and power efficiency.

The pricing details of the hard drive are still under wraps.
