Moser Baer 8 x Blu-ray discs announced in India

Moser Baer Logo Moser Baer India today announced the development of the world’s first high speed 8 x Blu-ray discs (BDR), which can be considered as a step forward towards next generation.

The technology has been jointly developed along with OM&T, the former R&D subsidiary of Philips.

Moreover, it vindicates our strategy of acquiring OM&T and adding their capabilities to the strong in-house R&D team to lead the technology development curve in the optical and photovoltaic space. The pioneering work in the Blu-ray format will further enhance our global leadership position.”

Moser Baer 8 x Blu-ray discs can record a 2-hour transmission equivalent of HD (High Definition) quality data in less than 15 minutes and the its capacity range from 15GB to 50GB. The discs can be used to store bulky files such as back-ups of business, photography, videography and also high definition video recording.

The Blu Ray technology developed by Moser Baer was recently demonstrated at the 4th Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) meeting held at Fukuoka in Japan.
