Western Digital Unveils My Book External Storage Solution

Western Digital My Book External Storage Solutions Western Digital has introduced a new line-up of the My Book external storage solutions. My Book Home Edition, My Book Office Edition and My Book Essential Edition are the new arrivals with the capacity of ranging 320GB to 1TB.

“Just in time for the holidays, we have taken the world’s number one selling external hard drive family and redesigned it to solve the particular needs of a diverse customer set,” said Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products and consumer electronics groups.

“With the new My Book family, WD delivers meaningful new features such as continuous backup and remote access while enhancing the qualities of elegance and simplicity that made this family of products so popular,” added Welsh.

The My Book Home Edition features automatic, continuous backup, data encryption and a capacity gauge. The device saves power by going into a standby mode after ten minutes of inactivity. The new My Book Home edition is compatible with Windows and Mac and features connectivity options such as USB 2.0, FireWire 400, and eSATA.

The My Book Office Edition sports the same continuous backup which works in the background feature. Besides, the DriveAccess feature allows users to access the drive from anywhere and allows them to share the drive too. Like the Home edition, the Office edition also features SmartPower feature and data encryption function. Users can use the drive with Windows and Mac operating systems.

The My Book Essential Edition 2.0 offers connectivity via USB 2.0. Besides, it features SmartPower and comes with one-year limited warranty. While the Home and office edition come along with three years warranty.

The My Book Home Edition, Office Edition, and Essential Edition 2.0 are available now in the US market at the prices ranging between $129.99 (approx 5,180 INR) and $379.99 (approx 15,150 INR).
