Kingston announces 4GB miniSDHC Memory Card, expanding its SDHC Flash Family

Kingston 4GB miniSDHC Memory Card Kingston Technology has introduced its latest 4GB miniSDHC card with Class 2, 4 and 6 speed ratings, expanding its Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) memory card series. The new memory card has been developed to support next generation mobile phones, digital devices that require larger capacities offering faster speed.

Rajesh Panicker, Country Manager, India, Kingston Technology, comment “As sleeker, more sophisticated mobile phones, PDAs and MP3 players offer digital imaging, music, video, mobile TV and games, the need for higher data transfer rates, increased storage and smaller form factor expansion memory becomes greater. Kingston is ready with miniSDHC memory to support the popular but storage-hungry advanced features of these next generation digital devices.”

Kingston miniSDHC, an enhancement from 2GB miniSD format, has the capacity to store more than 2,000 images, 750 digital music tracks or 4.5 hours of MPEG4 video. Each speed class designation reflects the minimum sustained data transfer rate (DTR) of megabytes per second (MB/s). That means, a class 2 speed SDHC card delivers at least 2MB/sec DTR, whereas class 6 offers minimum of 6MB/sec DTR.

The miniSD is only compatible with miniSD host devices and not with standard miniSD-enabled devices or readers, even thought the size is similar. The card is compliant with SD card Association specification, version 2.00.
