The iRiver B100, a media player that recently made its debut in Japan is something to be considered if users are on the lookout for a device which lends support to a wide range of formats. Available in variants with 4GB and 8GB storage capacities, the PMP will start shipping on Friday, April 6.

The front panel of this device that comes drenched in the pristine white shade, is dominated by a capacitive touchscreen offering a real estate of 3.1 inches. The multi-touch AFFS TFT Kara LCD display lets users view clear pictures in 320 x 480p resolutions. As Engadget who happened to spot this media player mentions, it extends support to a number of media codecs. Some of these formats include APE, ASF, WAV and OGG, besides most other common ones.

Furthermore, the company reveals that the PMP is capable of coughing up the juice for music playback of up to 36 hours at stretch for all the audiophiles out there. Users can also enjoy movies on this gadget and it allows continuous video playback for close to 8.5 hours,on a single charge. While the 4GB variant is said to have room for approximately 960 songs, the 8GB B100 claims to accommodate as many as 1,920 songs.

The iRiver B100 release date and price details have already been revealed for Japan. The 4GB PMP is priced at 11,800 Yen (approx. Rs. 7,245), whereas the 8GB version carries a price tag that reads 13,800 Yen (approx. Rs. 8,475). It can be pre-ordered via retailer Rakuten and it will be dispatched to users from April 6 onwards.
