Olympus tosses in LS-7 Linear PCM audio recording device

Olympus certainly captured many tech buffs at the CES 2011 with a wide range of trendy cameras enclosed with interesting features. The company has now forayed into the market with the latest Olympus LS-7 pocket Linear PCM audio recording device.

This offering comes along with a pre-record buffer that seamlessly captures seconds of audio even before the record button is tapped and an omni-directional mic to pick up low bass frequencies. It also includes a switchable low-cut filter that precisely restricts undesired low-frequency noise and voice guidance to provide users with audio prompts.

As light as 3oz, the newest entrant sports uncompressed 24-bit/96KHz linear PCM recording capability to capture impeccable sound quality. Offering 4GB internal flash memory, the device comes equipped with a microSD card slot and functions efficiently on two rechargeable AAA batteries. This model sports two condenser stereo mics and a center omni-directional mic.

The audio experience is enhanced since the LS-7 boasts of its capability to playback audio through its incorporated speaker. Adorned by a 1.69-inch backlit LCD screen, the newly unleashed solution comes fitted with an easy-to-use thumb pad for flawless navigation and control. The utility level is further uplifted as the erase and file list buttons are precisely located below the thumb pad.

Designed with a gorgeous, lightweight black body, the LS-7 delights owners with an optional RS-30W wireless remote. Besides the Olympus Sonority software, the audio recording device bundles together a USB cable, a windscreen, a carrying case, two rechargeable AAA batteries, a handy strap, an instruction manual and Olympus warranty card. Moreover, individuals can snap up optional accessories such as the infrared RS-30W wireless remote, WJ2 wind jammer and A514 AC adaptor.

The LS-7 is tagged at around $199.99 (approx Rs. 9,072) and is expected to hit stores in March 2011.
