Blue Raven MediaMate 700 series launched

Blue Raven MediaMate 7080 Blue Raven has introduced a new portable media player named MediaMate 7080 and MediaMate 7040, the new 7000 series portable media players. It features a 7″ HD screen (480 x 234 display) and built-in, timed recording that makes it a handy pocket-sized DVR.

The common features of the Blue Raven MediaMate 7040 and 7080 are:

  • 40 GB and 80GB internal HDD, which can record up to 100 hours of DVD-quality video
  • Headphones and built-in speakers
  • 3-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, or Memory Stick)
  • Wireless remote control
  • Scheduler
  • Weighs – nearly 1.5 pounds
  • Dimension – 8 x 4.6 x 1-inches

    • The new pocket DVR can record 720×480 (NTSC) and can scale up to 1080i, presumably for outputting to an HDTV set. It also only supports AVI and MPG containers with MPEG-4 ASP and MPEG 2.

    The 40GB MediaMate 7040 costs $379 and the 80GB MediaMate 7080 is $429.
