DTS to showcase DTS-HD Master Audio via PC at Computex

DTS and Blu-ray Logo DTS, a digital technology company, will demonstrate its DTS-HD Master Audio Technology through a PC source, using a high-end desktop PC with a Blu-ray disc drive for the next generation optical disc formats.

The company will showcase DTS-HD’s 7.1 channels for surround sound that is bit-to-bit identical to the studio master. They will also exhibit DTS connect, designed to enhance the entertainment value of PCs via DTS interactive and Neo:PC for both multi-channel and stereo content.

“The fast adoption of HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc is encouraging manufacturers to incorporate high definition technologies into PCs. Major CE manufacturers are seeking to include DTS-HD Master Audio in their next generation equipment, and we’re witnessing a similar initiative on the PC side. As more and more consumers purchase HDTVs and high definition peripherals, they want the same audio and visual quality from their PCs,” remarks Brian Towne, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Division, at DTS.

A pioneer in multi-channel audio, DTS technology offers a single cable connection via S/PDIF digital audio output to a DTS-enabled surround sound system by encoding all audio into a DTS-compatible bitstream at 1.5Mbps.

Based upon DTS’ Neo:6 matrix surround technology, Neo:PC can transform any stereo content such as MP3, WMA or CD audio, into as many as 7.1 channels of surround sound using analog outputs.

The demo will start from June 5-9 this year at Computex show in Taipei.
