The all new OWC Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G 480GB SSD is scheduled to be showcased at the MacWorld that’s currently being held in San Francisco. It has been specially developed for the next generation Apple MacBook Air 11.1″ and 13.3″ laptops incorporated with 6G (6Gb/s) data rate abilities.
Equipped with Tier 1/Grade A Toggle Synchronous NAND and SandForce technologies, this SSD is apparently capable of delivering data rates up to three times faster than traditional 3G (3Gb/s) options. It is said to actually multiply the storage capacity of the Apple MacBook Air by eight times.

This new SSD solution is a combination of the company’s previously launched Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G models of 120GB and 240GB capacities. According to OWC, most SSDs generally deliver speedy read and write performances. But with time, the efficiency starts to wear out. It may not be the same case with the latest 480GB drive owing to the integrated Block Management and Wear Leveling technologies.
